2. Meeting of Senior Officials of National Machineries for the Advancement of Women in East and Southeast Asian Countries

In the speech made by the Japanese head of delegation at the Forth World Conference on Women, Japan referred to the importance of establishing partnerships across the national boundaries not only of women and men but also of NGOs and governments.
With this in mind, and particularly to facilitate cooperation with the national machineries in neighboring Asian nations, Japan has been hosting a "Meeting of Senior Officials of National Machineries for the Advancement of Women in East and Southeast Asian Countries" since 1996 as a seminar for exchanging information and opinions on measures for the promotion of gender equality.
