7. Human rights of women

(1) Necessity for providing information available globally regarding women's human rights

NGOs play a significant role in promoting measures aimed at creating a gender equal society in Japan.
Thus further empowerment of NGOs is indispensable, and to this end the Government has been providing information regarding various international conferences to NGOs.
Though the contents of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women has been broadly disseminated, public knowledge about other international conventions related to the rights of women, the contents of deliberations regarding the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and laws related to the rights of women in other countries remain insufficient.
The Government will extend further efforts to broadly disseminate information on worldwide trends.
