Ways to handle indecent material on the Internet

• Young people in Japan and other countries (18- to 24-year-olds) were asked what is needed to monitor indecent material on the Internet. The most common response among Japanese youth was "Young people should be instilled with the capacity to make their own decisions," followed by "The government should regulate it in some way."

Differences in tolerance of pornograpy of women between males and females and between parents and children

• When high school students and their parents were asked whether it is wrong to view pornographic images on the Internet, the ratio of males (fathers and male high school students) responding "Not wrong" was high, while the percentage of parents who answered "Wrong" was higher among fathers and mothers, at 60%, than among high school students.
