National Conference for Instructors of Intensive Investigation on Sex Crime
On 18 May 1998, the National Police Agency held a National Conference for Instructors of Intensive Investigation on Sex Crime, inviting from around the country sex crime investigation instructors in charge of leading and guiding sex crime investigations, as well as women police officers assigned to sex crime investigations. This was the third in a series of conferences held in order to propel sex crime investigations forward strongly and appropriately, including, for example, preventing damage to victims from being submerged and reducing the emotional burden on victims. At the 1998 conference, participants worked on the steady establishment of measures related to sex crimes, as well as considering further areas in need of a response, including: (i) the development of specialist sex crime investigators, (ii) the broad-ranging gathering of information on sex crimes; and (iii) measures to combat highly dangerous malicious stalking and other behavior which could escalate into murder or sex crimes.
