  1. Lives of senior citizens

    Ratio of senior citizens in Japan will reach the highest level in the world by 2000

    • Looking at the ratio of senior citizens (65 years and above) in Japan and other countries, it is predicted that in the mid- to long-term, aging will continue to progress in all countries. Among these countries, aging in Japan has rapidly advanced, and it is projected that by 2000 the ratio of senior citizens will have reached 17.2%, and 32.3% by 2050 (Figure 14).
